(WMC-TV) - Surveillance video from the Whitehaven Walmart Monday shows an auto theft suspect leaving the store with a toddler in tow.

Memphis Police say the woman continued "shopping" in the parking lot and drove away in Dominique Payne's Toyota Corolla.

"I mean, I wouldn't commit a criminal act anyway," said Payne.  "But to involve your kids?" she asked.  "That's crazy," she added.

Payne said she was only in the store for 20 minutes or so and could not find her keys or her car when she left.

"Actually, there was another car parked in the spot where my car was," said Payne.

Payne had kids with her as well.  She thinks her keys may have fallen onto the parking lot while getting everyone out of the car.

"People with criminal minds seize opportunities," said Payne.  "Any opportunities they see, that's what they do," she added.

Interior cameras were not the only ones to capture the suspect.  Police say outside surveillance clearly showed her and the kid leave in Payne's car.

"You need to find her and lock her up," said customer Fred Reynolds.  "You don't do that, that ain't right," he added.

"What kind of example are you setting for your child?" asked customer Jermarra Jones.  "Not a very good one," she added.  "So, my opinion of that woman is not very high," said Jones.

Payne says the woman left her family without a way to get around.

"Anybody that recognizes her needs to report her," said Payne.

Payne's car is a white 1997 Toyota Corolla with Tennessee license plate number DFZ-908.
