COPY-Mother charged in newborn's death in East Tenn.

LAFOLLETTE, Tenn. (AP) - Campbell County authorities have charged a woman with first-degree murder in the death of her newborn, whose body was found more than a week later in a trash bag.

Wanda Cieslak is also charged with aggravated child abuse, according to The Knoxville News Sentinel (

Authorities said Cieslak went into a house where a methamphetamine lab had been found, took drugs and delivered a baby boy. Investigators said Cieslak - who is 39 - then killed the infant and stuffed his body into the trash bag, which was found on the front porch of a neighboring house.

LaFollette Police Department Chief Jimmy Jeffries said Cieslak gave birth on Oct. 13. She is being held on a $500,000 bond and no attorney is listed in her jail records.
