(WMC-TV) - A man was recovering after he was shot in the head Tuesday night in a Cordova strip mall parking lot.
Wednesday, the Shelby County Sheriff's Office said five people are being questioned about the shooting, which resulted from an argument erupted that between two groups in the parking lot of a Shelby County business.
Brandon Bullock, who witnessed the shooting, said the man who was hit was wearing a paintball mask.
"I figured it was the class that hit him," Bullock said.
But when the man took the mask off, what Bullock saw was much worse.
"He had a bullet hole going straight through his head," he said.
Bullock described the moments leading up to the shooting Tuesday night.
"Nine or ten of them were there in front of the liquor store, and they were arguing and yelling that dude had a gun, so we just walked in the store and another guy said, 'He gots a gun, he gots a gun!' and the other guy pulled out a gun and they started shooting.'"
Bullock said the scene was chaotic.
"Everybody started running in the store," he said. "After we ran out of the store, me and another fellow, the fellow that got shot in the head, we opened the door. We were standing there where the glass got shot and it shot him in the head."
No charges have been filed in this case, but investigators are hopeful. The name of the victim, who is in his twenties, has not been released.
The victim was released from the hospital. Authorities said the bullet only grazed his head.
