(WMC-TV) - A 19-year-old man was in critical condition at The MED Friday after a pizza delivery driver turned the tables on him during an attempted robbery in the 6900 block of Snyder, near Riverdale Road.

According to Memphis Police, around 11 p.m. Thursday, the suspect placed a bogus pizza order with Papa John's. When asked for a delivery location, he gave them an address in the 6900 block of Snyder, which turned out to be an abandoned house.

When the delivery driver showed up, the suspect approached him and told the driver to "Drop it." Instead, the driver pulled out his gun and shot the robber three times.

Neighbors reported hearing six or more shots.

Police on the scene said that the suspect had a weapon as well.

The delivery driver was not hurt in the incident and does have a permit for his gun.

Police have not said what charges will be files against the driver or the suspect.
