Loved ones hold second vigil for missing mother of four

(WMC-TV) - Friends and family of a missing Dyer County mother held a second candlelight vigil in her honor Friday night.

"Any thoughts and prayers are always a good thing," said supporter Amanda Tittle.

Friends of Karen Swift gathered for the second time this week for a candlelight vigil hoping and praying for the safe return of the missing mother of four.

Swift went to a Halloween party Saturday night.  She picked her daughter up at a friend's house and went home.  Her husband said he spoke briefly to Swift, who is divorcing him, and then he went to bed.

Swift and her family live in a rural area.  Her car was discovered off a highway early Sunday morning.

Investigators said Swift's car had a flat tire but there was no indication anyone had tried to change it.

Dyer County Sheriff Jeff Box said Swift's Halloween costume was still in the car, but not her purse.  More than 40 officers from across the state have searched for days in the rural area and have discovered some items, including clothing.

"There's some items that could possibly be tracked to her," said Box.  "But we definitely need to be sure before we say they are hers."

Box said DNA tests are being done on the items.
