(WMC-TV) – Police responded to a bank robbery Monday at the Bank of America in the 1500 block of North Germantown Parkway, near Chickering.

The robbery was reported Monday at about 11 a.m. Investigators said the suspect actually stood in line in the bank before taking off with cash.

"Once it was his turn to go to the counter, he produced a note to the teller at which time they gave him money," said Lt. Col. Marcus Worthy of the Memphis Police Department.

The robber told the teller he had a weapon.

"There was no weapon actually shown," Worthy said. "They felt he had a weapon, but they didn't take any chances. They just cooperated, which is the best thing to do."

No customers were hurt, and the suspect left the bank with an undetermined amount of cash.

"We will develop a suspect, and hopefully we'll lock somebody up," Worthy said.

The suspect was described as a black male, standing approximately 6'4", with a thin build, wearing a black baseball cap, a white shirt with an orange thermal shirt underneath, and blue jeans.

The suspect was last seen walking westbound from the business.
