Man shot while jumping out of window to escape his attackers

(WMC-TV) – A South Memphis man is recovering at the Med with a gunshot wound, a broken leg and cuts after an attempted robbery.

The victim was asleep inside his apartment, Monday night, when he awoke to three masked men standing over him. Police say the men were there to rob the man, but the victim took extreme measures to get away.

He ran and jumped through a third floor window, landing on the second floor, but was shot in the right leg in the process. The victim broke his other leg in the fall and was cut by glass from the window.

He is being treated at the Med and is in critical condition.

According to Memphis police, the incident happened near Brigidier Street and Bender Road, just south of Shelby Drive near Millbranch.

Meanwhile, his attackers remain on the run. Investigators said that they believe the victim was set up by a woman he met a few days ago, believed to be named "Keisha."

Memphis police are looking for her and the 3 men who may be in a grey Lexus with tinted windows.

Authorities are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH.
