Police chase in Memphis ends with wreck

(WMC-TV) – A police chase in Memphis ended with a wreck late Tuesday morning.

Shortly before 11:00 a.m., Memphis police spotted 30-year-old Danyell Miller driving near Overton Park.

A plain-clothes officer was able to follow Miller, but when the officer was joined by marked cars, Miller raced away. Police followed in hot pursuit, as Miller refused to pull over on Poplar and ran a red light at East Parkway.

Then, according to witnesses, Miller hit a sedan, clipped a pick-up truck, spun in a circle, and rear ended a city of Memphis truck before bailing out on foot.

He only made it across Poplar before cops caught up with him and arrested him.

Miller was wanted for a slew of robberies and thefts, including the July robbery of a business in the 2700 block of Union Extended, the July robbery of a Mexican restaurant in the 2600 block of Poplar, the theft of a rental car at 75 Jefferson Avenue in October, and two auto break-ins in October.

In total, Miller has six counts of Burglary from a Building, four counts of Theft of Property $500 - $1000, one count of Criminal Attempt Burglary, and two counts of Burglary of an Auto.

Miller is currently in police custody.
