(WMC-TV) – Memphis police are investigating an early morning shooting that left two people dead in North Memphis.
Police received the call to the 1100 block of Coppock Street just before 3 o'clock Wednesday morning.
According to police, they found a man and woman inside the home lying in the living room, both with multiple gunshot wounds.
They were pronounced dead at the scene.
"Everybody in the neighborhood knows everybody," said Clyde Harris, a friend of the victims. "We all grew up together. It's just hard to believe."
Investigators spoke with two witnesses who heard gunshots, but did not see any suspects.
Family members of the murdered woman said this was the second death in their family this week.
"In the end, all this doesn't make any sense," said the victim's cousin Jackie Wordlow. "The killing, whatever it is, I just hope this tragedy doesn't happen to anyone else."
No one is in custody but if you can help police, call Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH.
