Family struggling to bury child killed by daycare van

(WMC-TV) - Family and friends of a boy killed by a daycare van took time out from the holiday Friday to raise money in his honor.

Anthony Scott would have been seven on December 21.  While his family searches for answers in his tragic death, they are now struggling to figure out a way to bury him.

Scott's aunt, Jennifer Washington, asked for generosity near a gas station on Airways.

"We're doing a fundraiser today for my little nephew that got killed by the daycare van," said Washington.

Monday, Scott was in the parking lot at Oakshire Elementary when he was hit and killed by a daycare van.

"It's sadness and it's anger," said Washington.  "I try to hold it in sometimes, but I think the best way is to just let it out."

Scott's family is trying to scrape together enough cash for a proper funeral and burial.

Friends and family joined Washington Friday afternoon.  If you would like to make a donation, an Anthony Scott, Jr. Memorial Fund has been set up through First Tennessee Bank.
