(WMC-TV) - Two Kroger employees are charged with embezzling thousands of dollars from a Memphis store.
At Poplar and Cleveland, exterior walls advertise a pharmacy, deli, bakery, and restaurant. But what happened inside the store got Kroger employees Myoshi Rogers and Stephanie Williams charged with theft. The pair is accused of embezzling over $14,000 between October 28 and November 28 of this year.
According to court records, both Rogers and Williams had clearly defined roles in their scheme. Williams was described as a customer service cashier, accused of ringing up fake returns and making fraudulent refunds. Rogers, meanwhile, is described as an employee who came in while off duty to collect the cash from Williams.
According to Memphis police, Kroger provided investigators with documentation and surveillance video of the crime. Upon questioning, the pair confessed.
After they appeared in court Wednesday, both women were released on their own recognizance. They're due back in court in two weeks.
