(WMC-TV) - A pediatrician with Memphis ties has been arrested by the FBI and charged with possession of child pornography.
Dr. Yancy Craft was entrusted with the care of children, but the pediatrician is charged with receiving online child pornography and turned himself into federal agents Thursday.
Dr. Yancy Craft treated children in at least two offices in Arkansas before he moved to Memphis. But on Thursday, the 41-year-old doctor was arrested and charged with possessing and receiving child pornography.
FBI agents caught up with Craft in Columbus, GA, this week. He moved there from Memphis, but had not yet begun to treat young patients.
Craft's attorney Richard Hagler said his client never practiced medicine while living in Memphis. According to the Tennessee Department of Health, he has never been licensed to practice medicine in the state.
Federal agents said Craft took possession of images of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct. His online activities came to the attention of the Memphis FBI Crimes Against Children Task Force during an undercover interstate child porn investigation.
Craft was released on a $10,000 bond Thursday.
His attorney said the charge specifically targets online activity and there are no allegations that the pediatrician ever had inappropriate direct contact with a child.
Craft, who also went by the name Travis Mobley, had office listings in Bentonville and Little Rock. His attorney wouldn't say how long Craft lived in Memphis. He lived in Columbus for about a year.
Craft pleaded not guilty to the charges.
