Brighton Middle School helps grant one girl's wish

(WMC-TV) - Brighton Middle School staff and students helped make a Make-A-Wish dream come true.

Three-year-old Madelyn Montgomery has cancer and loves all things Disney.  Friday, Brighton Middle School was transformed into a Disney World wonderland for her.

The decorations were just a prelude to more excitement.  The school granted her wish with a trip to the Magic Kingdom for her entire family.

"Obviously we're all excited and very grateful for the Make-A-Wish Organization," said her father, Donald Montgomery.  "We hate the circumstances that we're in, and you know, it could happen to any family.  We're just grateful that there are organizations that do things like this to help us cope with this life-changing event."

Students raised $5,000 in one week and stayed after school for days to help decorate.

Madelyn Montgomery and her family left Sunday for Disney World.
