Man turns to robbery after romantic rejection

(WMC-TV) - Police say a woman who spurned a man's advances ended up being robbed by the wanna be beau moments later.

Officers say the woman was walking near the intersection of Marlene and Venable in late October when a burgundy Nissan Sentra pulled up next to her. The driver, 25-year-old Jeremy Fletcher, asked for the woman's phone number.

When she refused, police say Fletcher told the victim he was armed and demanded her money. The woman gave him $150 and Fletcher drove off, according to court records.

However, the woman was able to see the car's license plate number and late last month she identified Fletcher in a lineup.

Fletcher has been charged with robbery and is being held on $150,000 bond.
