A man accused of shooting of an Army captain in downtown Savannah in 2004 has received a guilty verdict from a jury.  A jury found Deon Jones guilty on of the felony murder of U.S. Army Captain Scott Corwin during a robbery near Monterey Square in 2004. The jury did acquit Jones of a malice murder charge, meaning they don't think that Jones planned the murder.  Jones was already in jail on an unrelated issue when his warrant was served. LONG CO., GA (WTOC) -

Two families are begging for answers after a former soldier and his girlfriend were found murdered in Long County.

Michael Roark, 19, and Tiffany York, 17, were found slain by fishermen Tuesday morning near Morgan Lake Road in Long County.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigators arrived at York's home in Midway to break the news to them.

"When the GBI got to my house they told us they found two bodies and that one of them was Mike's and one of them could be Tiffany's," Tiffany's sister Morgan York said.

Morgan York said her sister Tiffany began dating Mike a few months ago. She said they vacationed in Florida over the weekend and returned to the Midway area on Monday.

They were found murdered Tuesday.

"I just want to know what happened. I just hope she didn't have to beg or suffer," York said.

Michael Roark's mother said her son had been stationed at Fort Stewart. She said he was a loving, compassionate man with a big heart.

"I think anytime somebody loses a child they want to know why ... If anyone knows anything...tell someone what you saw or what you heard. That is the right thing to do," Roark's mother Tracy Jahr said from Washington State.

The couple was traveling in a black 2006 Nissan Altima that didn't have wheel covers.

Investigators hope someone saw the vehicle in the Long or Wayne County area near Highway 84 and Morgan Lake Road on Dec. 5 or the morning of Dec. 6.

If you have any information, call the GBI at 912.729.6198 or the Long County Sheriff's Office at 912.545.2118.
