(WMC-TV) - A man has been arrested after he allegedly tried to kidnap a jogger in Arlington Monday morning, according to the Shelby County Sheriff's Office.

A 50-year-old woman was running in the 12100 block of Longleaf Oak Trail around 6 a.m., when she was attacked by a man from behind, a sheriff's office spokesman said. The man hit in the chest, knocking her to the ground.

The man covered her mouth with his hand and tried to drag her away. However, the victim fought back and eventually the man, identified as 33-year-old St. Roland Jean-Charles, ran away, the sheriff's office said.

Jean-Charles was arrested after the woman called 911 from a neighbor's house.

He's been charged with attempted kidnapping and assault and is being held on $30,000 bond.

Jean-Charles is scheduled to be back in court in January.
