(WMC-TV) - A Memphis police officer is facing federal drug charges after investigators say he tried to find 200 pounds of marijuana to sell.

Investigators say 35-year-old Michael Sinnock tried to buy the marijuana on December 14, while he was on duty. Agents arrested Sinnock two days later after he allegedly bought 20 tablets of Lortab while driving his squad car.

"This officer's actions are a disappointment to not only the Memphis Police Department, but also to the citizens of Memphis," said Memphis Police Director Toney Armstrong in a written statement. "We work hard as a department to represent trust, honor, and integrity. When an officer makes choices such as these, it gives the entire department a black eye.
