Man arrested after police say he impersonated doctor

(WMC-TV) - A Memphis man who claimed to be a doctor was arrested on impersonation charges.

Rodney Robinson is accused of impersonating a licensed professions, felony forgery and theft of services.

A woman with a Whitehaven tax service company told Action News 5 that Robinson rented space for her for an office and ordered office supplies.

The woman, who did not want to be identified, said Robinson told her he was a doctor.

"I think he mentioned people wouldn't be coming to the office," she said.  "He would be out in the field a lot."

The woman said Robinson was in the office just over a month before using a counterfeit check to pay rent.  Robinson also hired an office clerk, whose paycheck was also bogus.

The office clerk scheduled appointments and took applications.  It is not clear what jobs Robinson was offering.

The tax service contacted police when the rent check bounced.

Police said Robinson never saw any patients.  He is being held on a $20,000 bond.
