Collierville antique store owner charged with embezzling

(WMC-TV) - A Collierville business owner arrested for embezzling more than $1 million had no comment when Action News 5 confronted her Thursday.

Karen Tripp, owner of Town Square Antiques, is facing bank fraud and criminal forfeiture charges after forcing her employer to declare bankruptcy.

According to federal documents, Tripp embezzled $1.5 million from Seiler-Nabor Construction Company, where she kept the books for nearly five years.

Employees said in addition to filing for bankruptcy, the construction company also had to lay off over 20 people.

The indictment said Tripp wrote checks to her personal bank account, as well as the antique store she owns.  It also said Tripp bought a home, cars, and took exotic vacations.
