300 National Guard members return to Mid-South from Kuwait

(WMC-TV) - All 300 soldiers of the 230th Sustainment Brigade who left 10 months ago returned to the Mid-South Wednesday afternoon.

This was the first deployment for Rodquis Gray, who celebrated his 20th birthday in Kuwait.  His mother, Katti Gray, waited anxiously for the first sign of soldiers.

Some held banners to welcome back their loved ones.  As the brigade rolled in, many shed tears.

The Gray family embraced, as did dozens of other families who were just days shy of a holiday reunion.

"I'm just thankful," said Katti Gray.  "I can't even describe it.  I'm shaking."

"When you get out of high school, you have to hit the ground running," said Rodquis Gray.  "What better place to start, in my opinion, than to serve my country?"

Katti Gray said after many nights of praying, she can finally get some rest knowing her son is home safe.

The National Guard members were a part of the hundreds of soldiers responsible for packing up all the equipment left in Iraq.
