Memphis man busted with child porn on his computer

(WMC-TV) – A Memphis man was arrested after police said they found thousands of child porn images on his computers.

Police seized nine computers from Tony Montgomery's house on Pipers Gap.  They believe he did minor repairs on other people's PCs, but that he used his own machines to download child pornography.

Montgomery was in jail on $300,000 bond.

"Very graphic images of child sexual abuse," said Lt. Wilton Cleveland with the Memphis Police Department.  "They are known through the law enforcement community as child pornography."

Memphis police said there are three full-time investigators working on its internet crimes against children task force.  They are using special technology that made a direct connection with Montgomery's IP address.

According to an affidavit of complaint, Montgomery used two computers to download "videos of minors engaged in sex."

Investigators said Montgomery's case is one of several still pending.

"We have the unit that's going to take these guys down," said Wilton.  "They have to understand that we're going to eventually catch them.  Because there's always a digital fingerprint out there that's going to bring us back to the person that's doing it."

Police said neighborhood children were not victimized, but some parents on Pipers Gap said they remain frazzled.

"I'm kind of concerned about living around somebody that's on the computer involved in some child sex stuff," said neighbor Paulette Burse.

Montgomery is not accused of creating any of the images.  He is due back in court next Thursday.
