(WMC-TV) – A Collierville man was arrested Thursday after deputies say he used heroin and then took a child for a drive in his truck.

A motorist called investigators after she spotted truck driving erratically on the highway, according to court records. She told dispatchers that she watched as the vehicle ran several vehicles off the road.

Deputies say they eventually found the truck parked in a parking lot near the intersection of Holmes and Riverdale. They say the driver, Zachary Rogers, was slumped over the steering wheel and appeared to be passed out. They also spotted a three-year-old child in the vehicle that wasn't in a car seat or wearing a seatbelt.

Rogers told deputies he had smoked marijuana that day and that he had several packets of heroin in the vehicle, according to court records.

Investigators also found syringes in the truck and say that Rogers had a small injury on his arm that appeared similar to an injection wound.

Rogers is charged with child endangerment, drug possession.
