One man killed in Waffle House parking lot shootout

(WMC-TV) - One man was killed after an shootout at a Waffle House late Sunday night.

On American Way, just across the street from Waffle House, Janet Patino and her husband own and operate JJ's Graphic Design.

Their two young sons often spend afternoons and holidays at the office.  The shootout has the family concerned.

"I was like, wow, that happened where we're at," said Patino.  "Right across the street."

Three men were sitting in a parked car behind Waffle House.  Two other men walked out of the restaurant and an argument broke out between the two groups.

The argument escalated into a gunfight between all five men.  Police said 28-year-old Isaac Henderson was among the three men in the car.  He was shot and later died at the hospital.

Patricia Barreto's family owns and operates La Estetica across the street from the Waffle House.  She said her peace of mind never wavers.

"We feel happily that this would not happen over here," said Barreto.

Business owners said they were confident the violent shootout will not cross American Way.

"We usually feel safe," said Patino.  "I mean, sometimes we lock the door for safety, but we've never had any problems or anything."

Two shooters were still on the loose Monday.  Police said no one is in custody.

Henderson has an arrest record, but it may not have any connection to this case.

If you can help investigators solve this crime, they ask you call Crime Stoppers at (901) 528-CASH.
