Hood: Judge should invalidate some Barbour pardons

(AP) - Mississippi Attorney General Jim Hood says he'll ask a state judge next week to revoke several pardons that Haley Barbour issued in his final days as governor.

Hood says five inmates who worked as trusties in the Governor's Mansion failed to meet the state constitutional requirement of publishing a legal notice for 30 days in a local newspaper to let people know they're seeking a pardon.

The five former trusties were released from prison in the days before Barbour left office Jan. 10. Hood said Tuesday that his office has served civil papers on 4 of the five, telling them to be in court next Monday.

Hood says relatives of Joseph Ozment, in DeSoto County, are not cooperating with authorities in the search for him.
