Witnesses testify in trial of teen charged as adult

(WMC-TV) - Witnesses testified Wednesday in the trial for a teenager charged with the murder of an elderly Munford couple.

Sixteen-year-old Jacob "Paco" Brown is being tried as an adult.

While Brown showed very little emotion in the courtroom, family members grieved as they watched video from the crime scene the day 80-year-old James Walker and his 75-year-old wife Bertha Walker were murdered.

Investigators found James Walker's body on the living room floor.  His wife's body was just a few feet away on the kitchen floor.

"There's blood spattered on the wall all the way up to the corner of the piece of furniture and blood spattered on the furniture," said Loren James with the TBI.

The jury also got their first glimpse of the aluminum bat authorities said Brown used to murder the elderly couple.

"Not many of us would survive more than one shot to the head with a baseball bat," said James.  "It would pretty much take us out."

Brown is charged with two counts of premeditated first degree murder, two counts of felony first degree murder, and aggravated burglary.

Brown was arrested less than 48 hours after the murder at a motel in Millington.

"Went into the hotel room and secured the scene," said David Hartman with the TBI.  "Some other officers found some evidence of this homicide in the hotel room.  At that point, we stopped searching, left, and got a search warrant."

Brown eventually confessed to TBI agents about the murder.

Court is set to resume at 9:00 a.m. Thursday.
