(WMC-TV) – A Memphis police officer is off the job after being accused of harassing his wife.

Officer Daniel Dermyer has been relieved of duty with pay pending the outcome of a criminal investigation.

Dermyer was arrested on a harassment/domestic violence warrant and has since bonded out of jail.

Investigators say last Saturday, Dermyer followed his wife, who he's been separated from since October of last year, from her apartment complex onto Highway 64. The police report says she was able to lose him, but he started sending her harassing text messages.

One allegedly read "So you have a boyfriend and you are southbound on 40 HUH." "Hope someone's home watching your kid, cops on the way," another one said.

Making matters worse, the report said Dermyer did all of this with the couple's four and six-year-olds in the car with him.

Because this happened in Shelby County, the sheriff's office is handling the investigation.
