Gingrich sued for using song “Eye of the Tiger”

(WMC-TV) - Newt Gingrich is fighting for survival in Florida, but a former member of the Memphis-based band Survivor doesn't want the GOP candidate to use the group's most famous song Eye of the Tiger.

Rude Music Incorporated, owned by Frank Sullivan of the band Survivor, filed the lawsuit in federal court in Chicago this week.

The suit alleges Gingrich has used the song without permission at events since around 2009. Sullivan's attorneys are seeking an injunction to block him from using it again, plus damages and lawyer fees.

The song, which appeared on the Rocky Three soundtrack, was a No. 1 hit, won a Grammy and was nominated for an Oscar.

Gingrich's campaign hasn't responded to the suit.
