(WMC-TV) - A Mid-South musician hopes that you stay tuned after you watch Super Bowl XLVI on WMC-TV Sunday, because he'll have a big part in the hit show that airs immediately after the big game.
Legendary entertainer Preston Shannon is scheduled to perform on the NBC talent show "The Voice."
Shannon has preformed around the world and now he's ready for "The Voice," a stage where millions of TV viewers will see him.
"Give it to me," Shannon said. "I'm going to give them what I got you know, and see what happens."
And you can count on something good to happen when Preston Shannon takes the stage. His bluesy vocals and funky guitar have made him a crowd favorite.
"What turns me on is making people happy, making people smile," he said. "People go out to have a good time. If they're having trouble or problems they can forget them for a while and I just love to entertain people, man."
Music has provided a great ride for a kid who got his start performing in a Pentecostal Church in Olive Branch.
"Olive Branch, MS, that's where I first started playing the guitar and I never foreseen me being a singer an entertainer for a living, never," he said.
And now Shannon is getting ready to show his skills on Super Bowl Sunday when "The Voice" comes on after the big game.
"I just love to entertain people, man," he said. "You know, that's where I get my joy from. If I can make you dance or make you smile my job is done."
Super Bowl XLVI will air on WMC-TV 5 at 5:30 p.m. Sunday.
