Memphis youth charged in killing was out on bond

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - A 17-year-old arrested in the fatal shooting of another youth outside a Memphis high school was out on bond at the time.

The suspect - whose case is still in Juvenile Court - is now charged in the killing of 17-year-old Terrance Wilkins as fans left a basketball game at Central High School the night of Jan. 13.

The youth who is charged had made a $10,000 bond in a December aggravated robbery case, according to The Commercial Appeal.

Juvenile Court Judge Curtis Person and prosecutor Amy Weirich didn't return newspaper calls seeking comment. A spokesman in the prosecutor's office said there would be no comment on the bond issue.

The attorney for the suspect also did not respond.

Police have said it appeared Wilkins wasn't the intended target.
