(WMC-TV) - While Valentine's Day may be meant for couples, little kids love the holiday too.

Little ones at Southern Baptist Educational Center in Southaven, Mississippi spent the afternoon passing out cards and candy to all of their classmates.

We asked the children what the holiday meant to them.

"It means loving," said Savannah Williams

"Because that's caring and sharing," Elisabeth Chitty said.

One by one, elementary students showed their friends and classmates the love.

"We're going to put our cards in there that we made," Williams said.

Isabella Stine read us one of her valentines.

"It says tweet tweet, you're so sweet because it's got a birdie on it," Stine said, smiling.

The walls of SBEC were lined with hearts, pictures, and drawings. Each one was handmade with care for the people that matter most.

"My brother, my mom, and my daddy," Alex Musgrave said.

"My teacher and friends," Isabella Saurenman said.

They spent their afternoon making candy necklaces, heart shaped stickers, and Valentine's notes for family back at home.

"Because they take care of me and they feed me," Saurenman said.

"They're real nice and they help me and we do all kinds of stuff and we play," said student Parker Lee.

To all you couples out there worrying about a last minute gift, these kids have some advice.

"You should give somebody a valentine or you might want to celebrate valentines with them," Williams told us.

"I fed them [my parents] a little bit of breakfast in bed," said Saurenman.

Musgrave said he's simply going to tell his mom that he loves her.

The children said they can't wait to show their grandparents their gifts that they made for them when they have ‘Grandparents' Day' on Friday at SBEC.
