(WMC-TV) – The family of a 16-year-old girl who claims a teacher fondled her now says the girl was sent home from school because of teasing.

The teacher is accused of fondling the girl at Rosa Fort High School.

No one answered the door at the Hernando home of Tunica County shop teacher Melvin Glass.

He was fired from his job at Rosa Fort High School Thursday two months after a 16-year-old student claims he fondled her at school.

"He lifted my shirt and touched my stomach and touched my butt and stuck his hands down my pants," the girl, whose identity isn't being revealed, said.

While Action News 5 is concealing the teen's identity, she said the kids at school know who she is.

"People were following me, harassing me," she said. "(They were) saying stuff like ‘Free Mr. Glass' and that she's lying and that's not true"

The principal sent her home to try and avoid further problems and although she feels victimized again by the teasing the 16-year-old and her family don't regret coming forward.

"Because what he did was bad and I don't want it to happen to any other girls," the 16-year-old said.

The girl claims Glass paid her $25 to try and keep her quiet.

He was fired by the school district following his arrest which followed a court hearing.

The school will hold an assembly to address the teasing.

Meanwhile, the 16-year-old said she believes there are other girls may have also been fondled.

Her family believes the money to keep quiet may have worked to keep other girls from coming forward.

"Speak up as soon as possible, and tell their parents," she said.

Tunica County Sheriff's investigators would not say whether there is evidence other potential victims actually exist.  They encouraged anyone else with allegations against Glass to report them.
