(WMC-TV) - In Water Valley, MS, there's a war going on; a gas war.

The side residents stand on depends on the price at the pump.

"I go where it's cheap I don't have any allegiance or anything, if the next guy goes cheaper ill move down there," said customer Joshua Mahan.

Unleaded gas is $3.37 per gallon at two stations in town.

"It's a lot cheaper, I mean 25 to 30 cents cheaper than other places," said James Jones.

Cars pack the lots of the where the fuel costs less.

"Yesterday he [Dad] filled up his other truck here and said it was a traffic jam just to get in line," Mahan continued. "He had to reverse around several people to get into a spot to finally get gas."

Christy Campbell drives more than 20 minutes to work in Oxford every day. She said she fills up in Water Valley because gas is around $3.60 in Oxford.

"Its way cheap because I can get $20 and get half a tank for this gas," Campbell said.

Less than half a mile away from the cheaper Water Valley stations, gas is 22 cents higher per gallon.

"It makes a big difference when you're looking at 20 to 30 gallons, $5 or $10 you save and we have 3 or 4 vehicles so we save a lot," Mahan said.

Stations with prices at $3.59 were virtually empty.

"You can find the cheapest gas and I'll tell anybody to get it," said Campbell.

One of the managers told me they can't talk about why their price is lower, but for people filling up, they don't care about the reason, so long as it's less money out of their pockets.

"I don't know why it's so cheap here, but as long as it's cheap here I'm coming to get it," Jones laughed.
