Retired Memphis police officer's killer caught in Chicago - WMC Action News 5 - Memphis, Tennessee

Final suspected member of ‘Killing Crew' arrested

(WMC-TV) – U.S. Marshals arrested Demeterous Santiago in Chicago Wednesday afternoon.

Santiago is wanted in connection to the murders of four people, including retired Memphis police officer Charles Jones.

Jones' burned body and car were found in Jackson, TN, earlier this month.

Three other suspects are already in jail for the crimes.

Law enforcement agents were watching Santiago as he walked down a Chicago street Wednesday afternoon and say he surrendered as soon as he saw the U.S. Marshals.

"I am the one you are looking for," Santiago said, according to a written statement issued by the Marshals Service.

He was arrested without incident and is currently awaiting extradition to Tennessee.

Michael Dean, Ashley Carver and Santiago have been charged with four counts of murder.

Carver is accused of luring the killer crew's victims with the promise of sex.

Lewis Gibson is the fourth suspect in the case.

He's accused of facilitating the murder of Valero employee Leonard Davidson, but not actually carrying the crime out.
