Coach sues Middle Tennessee salon over counterfeits

(WMC-TV) - Coach is suing a Tennessee hair salon for selling millions of dollars in knock-off products.

In a 25-page civil complaint, Coach is going after a small Middle Tennessee hair salon to the tune of $2,000,000 per counterfeit.

Coach sent in an investigator who bought a $200 wallet for $15.  The paperwork reveals nine different problems with the fake and asked for legal retribution.

While investigators have locked up dozens for selling and trading counterfeits, Coach said it wants to recover lost income.

On page four of its complaint, Coach claims "annual global sales currently exceeding $3 billion."  Page 12 of the reports claims "Coach is suffering irreparable injury, has suffered substantial damages as a result of the defendant's actions, and has no adequate remedy at law."

The company claims counterfeits dilute the brand quality and causes confusion and mistakes among customers.

If not awarded $2,000,000 per counterfeit, Coach said it wants to be reimbursed the profit.
