Court records reveal possible 5th member of Killing Crew

(WMC-TV) - Right now, a member of the so-called killing crew is in the Memphis jail after being on the run for weeks.

Demetrious Santiago was wanted in connection with the murder of former Memphis police officer Charles Jones.

Now there may be a fifth member of the crew.

Santiago was caught in Chicago and was extradited overnight to Memphis...

He's currently sitting in jail at 201 Poplar, but is there another suspect who's getting off easy?

"Santiago, Dean and an independent witness loaded Jones' body in the trunk" of Jones' car, according to the affidavit of complaint.

Police say Ashley Carver lured Jones to a house on Norwood with a promise of sex.

Investigators say instead, her boyfriend Michael Dean shot Jones in the head and Dean's brother Demetreous Santiago robbed him.

Santiago eventually dumped his burned body and car in Jackson, TN.

Police say the trio pulled the same murderous trick on Valero employee Leonard Davidson.

A fourth person, Lewis Gibson, is also an alleged accomplice.

Gibson has been charged with facilitation and is in jail on $5 million bond for his alleged involvement in the Davidson case.

By phone, Gibson's attorney Mike Working said his client has not been implicated in the Jones case.

And he has no knowledge of the "independent witness."

According to the Santiago affidavit, the witness was present when Jones was killed and named Santiago as a participant.

While three people have been charged with killing Charles Jones, someone who was there and helped move the body remains free.
