Fight over shared driveway lands one in jail for assault

(WMC-TV) - Two neighbors in Orange Mound battled it out in their cars, landing one of them in jail on $25,000 bond for assault.

After months of rising tension, neighbors Barbie Ware and Paris Anthony had it out in their front yard.

"It just happened," said Anthony.

They were both trying to pull out of the single driveway at the same time.  Instead of waiting for Anthony to pull out, Ware yelled out of her car that she was going to kill her.

"She intentionally rammed her car into mine," said Anthony.

Anthony said Ware knocked her minivan with she and her son into a fence.

"First thing I said was, 'Elijah, are you OK?'" said Anthony.  "And he said, 'No momma, what's wrong with her?'"

Both Anthony and her son were fine, as were the three children in Ware's car.  Neighbor Clara Johnson said she saw it all from her porch.

"Kids were in the backseat," said Johnson.  "The way she rammed it, I couldn't believe it."

"Next thing, she ran to the police officer not realizing the man seen everything," said Anthony.

The police officer arrested Ware.

This latest trouble started on Wednesday because the victim's child was playing in the front yard.  The victim said the suspect went and got a gas can and said she was going to blow up her.  She then said she was going to get her baby's father to shoot the suspect.

Anthony filed a report against her neighbor for this threat, not imagining what would happen the next day.

"We are living in crazy times right now," said Anthony.

"How do you put your kids' life in danger by acting crazy?" asked Johnson.

Ware is charged with two counts of aggravated assault.  She is being held at 201 Poplar.
