(WMC-TV) - The Memphis Tigers gathered at the TPC Southwind Clubhouse Sunday to find out where they would be headed for the NCCA tournament.
The Tigers did not have to worry about getting into the tournament, but this year was all about seeding.
The Tigers did not get the seeding they were hoping for, rather an 8 seed in the West Region. They will play St. Louis in Columbus, Ohio on Friday.
If the Tigers advance past St. Louis, they would likely face Big 10 tournament champion and top-seeded Michigan State.
Many of the Tigers felt they were underseeded, but said that just gives them another chance to prove the doubters wrong.
"They felt like we got treated unfairly, but I told them, when you think about it, we play our best when we get disrespected, and everybody thinks we are through and things not going our way, that's when we really play," said sophomore guard Will Barton.
"We perform at our best when there's a chip on our shoulder and we're backed in the corner a bit," said head coach Josh Pastner. "That's just the facts of it. If our guys don't have a chip on their shoulder now, I don't know what to tell you."
The St. Louis Billikens are a former Conference USA foe currently out of the Atlantic 10.
