(WMC-TV) – Police are hunting for a killer after a man was shot to death in the middle of a Memphis street.

It happened at the corner of Glenalp and Derbyshire in North Memphis.

Police say the shooting happened around midnight in front of Belinda Lowery's home.

"They shoot all the time over here," she said. "This is the neighborhood where you can hear gunshots sitting in your living room."

Police say the shooting victim's body was found lying in the street in a pool of blood.

Officers say paramedics were called, but the man died before he could be taken to the hospital.

Witnesses say the victim had gotten into an argument with another man when the bullets started flying.

By morning the murder scene had been cleared and as children walked to school through the area, the only thing that told you something tragic happened overnight was a teddy bear placed at the murder scene by a young woman from the neighborhood.

Officers say the young man who died was around 20-years-old.

For long time residents like Belinda Lowery, this death is reason to move out.

"I'm really trying to move out because it's getting worse," she said. "Every year it's getting worse."

Investigators have not released the victim's name or any information about the suspect.
