(WMC-TV) - A United Express flight was forced to make an emergency landing in Memphis with Alert III status Friday night due to a damaged tire.
Chopper 5 was over the scene as passengers were evacuated from United Express flight 4610 bound and loaded onto buses. The flight was bound for Houston.
None of the 44 passengers aboard the plane were injured.
Both the Memphis Police Department and Memphis Fire Department responded to the scene.
Friday night, ExpressJet issued the following statement:
"United Express flight 4610, operated by ExpressJet from Memphis to Houston, returned to Memphis after take-off due to tire damage. An emergency was declared as a precautionary measure and the flight landed normally and safely in Memphis. We are currently working to reaccomodate all 44 passengers."
