(WMC-TV) - The Marshall County Sheriff's Department is searching for whoever is responsible for over a dozen church burglaries within the past month.

The latest church burglary happened Thursday morning.  The crimes have netted someone thousands of dollars in church money and property.

There are few leads to the whereabouts of whoever is responsible, other than investigators thought the crimes appeared to be the work of the same criminal or criminals.

Authorities advise area churches and neighbors to lock up tight and be on the lookout.

"If you're in the area of a church and you see suspicious activity, anything looks out of the ordinary, we'd ask that you give us a call immediately," said Maj. Kelly McMillen with the Marshall County Sheriff's Department.

The first church burglary happened in early March.  The burglary of Cornerstone Church of Christ on Caye Road at the intersection of Mississippi Highway 302, or Goodman Road, was discovered Wednesday evening.  Thousands of dollars in musical equipment, a 32 inch flat screen TV, as well as other church and personal property was stolen.

Another church burglary was discovered in the same county Thursday morning.

Marshall County investigators asked if you know anything about the crimes, call them at (662) 252-1311.
