Man turns himself in after crashing in to Beale Street club

(WMC-TV) - An 18-year-old turned himself in Friday after crashing into BB King's on Beale Street earlier this week.

A red Buick slammed into the club around 3 a.m. Thursday.  Later that night, police located the car responsible outside Otis Trixie's apartment complex near FedEx Forum.

"It didn't never cross my mind it was involved in that," said Trixie.

No one seemed to know who was driving the car when it hit the club.  One man said the name of the driver was Andrew Jackson.

"I see so many people driving that car, ain't no telling who owns that car," said Trixie.

It is still not clear who owns the car, but Leslie Tate turned himself in and police said he admitted he was the driver.

The damage at BB King's was still boarded up Friday night, but the club never closed.

Tate is charged with failure to report a vehicular accident, failure to maintain proper control, financial responsibility, and no driver's license.

Action News 5 was unable to locate Tate for a comment.
