MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) – University of Memphis head basketball coach Josh Pastner says he's not going to LSU despite a published report that he asked about the coaching job there.

It's the type of thing successful programs go through just about every year. A team has a good season, and suddenly it's coach finds himself at the center of rumors that he's either being approached or is approaching other schools about head coaching vacancies.

The Tiger Rag, a print and online publication that covers LSU sports reported Tuesday that the Tigers coach had reached out to LSU in the past 24 hours to gauge the school's interest and inquire about the job vacated by Trent Johnson, who resigned this week.

Josh Pastner told Action News 5 that he hasn't had any contact with LSU and says the school has not contacted him.

In three years at Memphis, Pastner has led the Tigers to two NCAA tournament appearances.

Pastner was just given a one year contract extension that has him signed through the 2016-17 season.

The 34-year-old coach makes roughly $1.7 million at Memphis. During his last season, Johnson made $1.2 million at LSU.

Pastner said 100 percent of his focus is on the U of M.
