FORREST CITY, Ark. (AP) - Forrest City police will announce new developments in the unsolved killing of a 19-year-old waitress more than 10 years ago.
Police Chief E.P. Reynolds has scheduled a news conference for Wednesday morning to discuss the case of Tawana Blunt, who was found dead in September 2000 at her home. Authorities believe she was strangled.
Investigators say Blunt left work at the Coconut Lounge about 2 a.m. She was last seen between 3 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. as she walked from a house back to her home.
Officers say her 2-year-old daughter was staying with relatives that night.
Police said Tuesday they have solved the crime, but no details were released.
Members of Blunt's family and her friends are expected to be on hand at the news conference.
