Tenn. man dies after saying girlfriend shot him

KINGSTON, Tenn. (AP) - A Kingston woman called 911 and said her live-in boyfriend had shot himself. Police arrived in time to hear the victim say his girlfriend did it.

The Knoxville News Sentinel reported 63-year-old James R. Cobb died a couple of days after being taken by helicopter to a Knoxville hospital.

Tammy Ellen Rosado was charged with aggravated domestic assault and she is free on bond.

The investigation revealed there were two empty shell casings in the weapon - a .22-caliber revolver.

The shooting occurred early on April 4.

Kingston Police Chief Jim Washam said Tuesday that what began as an assault case is now a homicide investigation. Washam said results of the police investigation will be given to the district attorney's office. A grand jury convenes June 18.
