Two suspects charged in Mud Island home invasion

Home invasion on Mud Island Home invasion on Mud Island

(WMC-TV) - Two men were robbed in what police are calling a home invasion in the 1200 block of Island Place East on Mud Island and one of the victims was taken to the hospital.

Police said one of the victims stepped outside to take out the trash, but was forced back inside at gunpoint and robbed.

Police cut off access to the Island for a time late Wednesday night as they investigated the robbery.  They later caught the two robbers in South Memphis through GPS tracking on the victim's stolen cell phone.

Late Thursday night, police charged 21-year-old Adrian Henderson and 20-year-old Devaughn Edwards in the home invasion.

Investigators said they do not yet know if these two suspects are connected to five other recent armed robberies on Mud Island.

"Hopefully they're going to get it under control," said Mud Island resident Tommie Jo Kinney.

Investigators believe the victims of Wednesday night's home invasion were chosen at random.  They do not think the suspects knew the victim.

Henderson and Edwards could face charges related to other recent crimes on Mud Island.
