Teen charged over alleged threat to Ark. school

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. (AP) - A 16-year-old boy has been charged with terroristic threatening and possession of an explosive device after he allegedly promised a violent attack on Dardanelle High School.

The Courier reports the teenager pleaded not guilty to the charges Thursday, and a judge set a $200,000 bond. The youth is being held at the Mansfield Juvenile Treatment Center.

An affidavit says the teen posted threats on his Facebook page in which he compared himself to 1 of the two shooters in the 1999 Columbine High School massacre. An affidavit says the teen promised his attack at Dardanelle would be even worse.

Police say investigators found a box with metal balls, black powder, nails and a metal pipe - and believe the youth was trying to build a bomb at his home.
