Community rallies around toddler diagnosed with cancer

(WMC-TV) - A North Mississippi toddler, diagnosed with cancer, is getting some help from the Byhalia, Mississippi community this weekend.

Ashlynn McClure isn't living the typical life of a 22-month-old. She is currently going through strong chemotherapy for her aggressive malignant tumor at St. Jude's.

Family members told Action News 5 that the tumor is likely to spread or return, and is rare in children.

On Saturday, at Byhalia United Methodist Church, gospel singers will join voices to raise money for her treatment.

The event will last from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM.

Admission is free but donations will be accepted at the door.

A benefit account has also been set up at Citizens Bank of Byhalia. Locations are also in Barton and Victoria, Mississippi.
