East Memphis shopping center files for foreclosure

(WMC-TV) - The Memphis Daily News is reporting that a first-run foreclosure has been filed for the Laurelwood shopping center on Perkins Extended between Walnut Grove and Poplar.

This is one of several shopping centers in that same area.

A foreclosure sale is set for May 9.

Built in 1959, the shopping center is anchored by El Mezcal Mexican restaurant.

The Shelby County Assessor of Property's 2011 appraisal was a little more than $837,000.

Memphis-based EZR Management Inc. manages the center, formerly known as Perkins Plaza.

The investment company that owns the center is based in Los Angeles.
