One man shot in apparent home invasion

(WMC-TV) - A tranquil neighborhood was disrupted late Tuesday after shots rang out in what appeared to be a home invasion.

A man in his 20s was shot in the neck just before midnight in the 2800 block of West Lake Shore Drive.

A neighbor who asked to remain anonymous said the neighborhood is frightened.

"Kind of scary for it to be in a nice neighborhood like this, you know," said the neighbor.

Investigators said the call first went out as a home invasion.  When officers got to the scene, the two witnesses were telling different stories.

Investigators said fear could be an explanation for the differing stories.

While police continue to sort out what happened, neighbors called for an end to violence.

"It's really not called for, you know," said the neighbor.  "If you're able to go out there and work and do what you got to do to support your own, you shouldn't be running around here trying to break into someone else's home like that."
