(WMC-TV) – A twice convicted killer learned his fate Friday for the murder of Gwendolyn Cherry.
Dexter Cox will serve a consecutive life sentence without patrol. This is his second sentence of that nature. In May 2011, Cox was sentenced to life without parole for the murder of Herbert Wooten.
In October 2007, Cox randomly shot and killed Wooten. He also shot Wooten's wife, Barbara. The bullet damaged a nerve in her hip, preventing her from ever walking again.
Even with two life sentences ahead of him, Cox is still awaiting trial for the murder of longtime Memphis Police Lieutenant Edward Vidulich.
The 55-year-old lieutenant was found dead at his home from gunshot wounds.
